These plans would see the building that used to house Oadby Swimming Pool knocked down so that a mixed development consisting of houses and flats can be constructed. The company behind them is Churchill Retirement Living and it wants to build six cottages, a bungalow and 50 flats at the site. It submitted plans to the council at the end of last year, but has revised them after feedback from planning officers.
Further opinions will now be sought from the local community, during a consultation. According to BBC News, a spokesperson for Churchill Retirement Living stated:
“We have had positive design discussions with planning officers, taken on their feedback and amended the designs accordingly, and we continue to work proactively with the council to achieve a positive outcome.”
