The local authority opted to green light the scheme for a site in Wigston, just over a mile away from Oadby. The plans will involve constructing homes on land where a derelict building currently sits. At one time, it was a pub called the Nautical William, but that closed its doors a long time ago. Now it is set to be knocked down and replaced by a total of 14 affordable residences.
There are several advantages to the scheme. One is that it will supply homes that are badly needed. Another is that it will address a site that has become a problem area. The former pub building is in extremely poor condition and has a shabby appearance.

A start date for the project has not been revealed.
