This appeal has come from the charity called Open Hands and it applies to people throughout the borough. The organisation is aiming to get enough donations of food and other Christmas treats to be able to give them to poorer people in all parts of Leicestershire. It has created seven donation hubs within shops across the area, including the one in Oadby.
The chosen site for donations in the town is the branch of Asda, which is on Leicester Road. The charity has provided a list of the kind of items that it is looking for, including: crisps, sweets, selection Boxes, instant hot chocolate and festive crackers.

An Open Hands spokesperson told a local source that:
