People who live in Milton Keynes will have the opportunity to take part in an intriguing traditional music event this Christmas, as a popular folk ensemble come to town.
The Mediaeval Baebes have become one of the biggest-selling bands dedicated to folk and early music in the world. They have produced a total of 11 albums during their career, which have brought them two nominations for Emmy awards and an Ivor Novello Award win. Now, they will be coming to Milton Keynes at Christmas for an event that is being called the ‘Lighting of the Chalice.’
This will see them lead a procession through the streets of the town, complete with lit torches, pageantry and pomp. The procession will finish up at The Stables Theatre, which will be the location for a festive musical evening.
The Mediaeval Baebes will perform traditional folk songs and carols, as well as romantic poems. They will be accompanied by ancient and exotic musical instruments. Local people are being encouraged to join the procession, with instruments and fancy dress if they wish.

The ‘Lighting of the Chalice’ with the Mediaeval Baebes is scheduled to take place on 3rd December.
