Milton Keynes is to be treated to a royal visit, as the Duchess of Cambridge attends Bletchley Park on 18th June to honour the restoration project undertaken by the Bletchley Park Trust.
The restoration has seen the famed heritage site remodelled to look like it did during the period when it was central to the British war effort, thanks to the brilliance of the codebreakers based there.
During her visit, the Duchess will be given a tour of the huts that the codebreakers worked in, as well as meeting some of the surviving members of this team. Their success in decoding the encrypted communications transmitted by the German armed forces is thought to have ensured that the Second World War came to an earlier end than it would have otherwise.
The work to restore the park cost £8 million, and was financed by the Heritage Lottery Fund. As well as a full recreation of its Second World War era look, it now features interactive exhibitions and a visitor centre, where people can learn more and purchase souvenirs thanks to brochure and postcard printing from Milton Keynes Print shops.
Sir John Scarlett and Iain Standen, respectively the Chairman and Chief Executive of the Trust, will escort the Duchess around the park, and she will commemorate the conclusion of the project and the occasion by planting a tree.Get a Free Quote for Print
