Milton Keynes to revisit the sixties

Pop group The Manfreds are due to play a rescheduled gig in Milton Keynes this summer.

Manfred Mann is still regarded today as one of the most innovative and well-respected bands of the early decades of popular music. Its greatest hits are easily recognisable to many, and they have become synonymous with the era.

The group’s songs were R&B orientated with a jazz undercurrent, which proved to be a successful combination and are considered to exhibit a certain timelessness.

The Manfreds is a reunion of the original Manfred Mann group, but without its founder, and it features Paul Jones, the original lead singer. The group will be delivering a selection of Manfred Mann’s numbers, possibly including its most popular song Do Wah Diddy Diddy. The show also includes a mix of Blues and Jazz covers, as well as individual tracks from the members’ various solo ventures.

Jones and his harmonica are to be joined on stage by Tom McGuinness on guitar, Marcus Cliffe on bass, Mike Hugg on keyboard, Rob Townsend on drums and Simon Currie on saxophone and flute.
