Milton Keynes to host Literary Festival

The third annual MK Lit Fest is due to take place in the town later this month.

Those scheduled to appear include prize-winning fiction writers Lissa Evans, Toby Litt, Chris Ryan, Sam Byers and Priti Taneja. A cast of acclaimed non-fiction writers, notably Carrie Gracie, Paul Mason, Dan Cruickshank, Jack Monroe and Kassia St.Clair are also due to appear.

Lit Fest always endeavours to present new talent. This year, it will include short story specialists Chris Power and Lisa Blower, as well as poetry stars, Luke Kennard and Mary Jean Chan. Local literary artists will also feature, while Ouse Muse hosts a unique poetry event. Andrew Hodges, who was Alan Turing's biographer, will be talking to the scientist's nephew Sir Dermot Turing.

There are also activities for those with an interest in dogs led by Simon Garfield and UK Pet Detectives, Colin Butcher and Molly the Dog.

Writers workshops have been organised by established professionals, who will be on hand to advise on tasks like editing. Attendees can also take advantage of opportunities to discuss any written work with agents, propose a memoir or try some screenwriting.

MK Lit Fest will take place between Wednesday 18th September and Sunday 22nd September at the MK Gallery in Milton Keynes.
