For the festival, the park will come to life with sights, sounds and smells of years gone by. In an effort to promote events such as this, both to residents in the area and those further afield, organisers will frequently use advertising techniques such as poster printing to attract as many attendees as possible.
The event is being organised by Milton Keynes Museum, Cowper and Newton Museum, Bletchley Park, the Living Archive and City Discovery Centre, known collectively as the Heritage MK Partners. The partners are also combining with The Park’s Trust.
It promises to be a lively, colourful weekend with an array of activities and shows ranging from battles and clashes to royal appearances, providing fun for all the family.
In 2017, Campbell Park was home to the town’s largest historical re-enactment as part of the MK50 celebration. This year, organisers are hoping to put on just as grand an event. To date, they have provided only tantalising hints about exactly what the weekend will have in store for its visitors but the Milton Keynes Museum states on its website:
“...you can get ready for a brilliantly accessible, colourful, creative weekend.”
The Festival of History will be taking place on 15th and 16th June.
