The MK1K Open Water Swim Carnival, organised by Love Open Water is due to be held in Milton Keynes early in July.
This swimming event returns for a second year and consists of a series of three 1km circuit races - dependent on the chosen number of laps, participants can swim one, two or three kilometres. These are spread out over a single morning with starting times at one-hour intervals, and must be completed within an allotted 50 minutes.
Novices are welcome as well as dedicated racers, with all strokes apart from the backstroke allowed. Those participating in all three races will have each individual swim time combined, resulting in the fastest men and women eventually being crowned MK1K Champions.
Entry fees are inclusive of the race itself, a free swim cap, all timings, and safety measures. Hydration and swimmer snacks will be provided and a memento is presented to everyone who finishes.
To enter costs between £25 and a maximum of £50, plus booking charges. All those taking part must be aged 12 and over and should be members of the open water swimming group NOWCA prior to the race. Banner printing can prove to be an effective means of publicising a local community or sporting event.
The event has a starting registration time of 6:30 am on Sunday, July 4 at Willen Lake, Milton Keynes.
