Both organisations work hand in hand to provide care and support for families who have suffered bereavement through cot death. They also supply sleep monitors for families with a history of cot death.
The money raised by Tina will go towards replacing some of the older monitors which have been condemned. The monitors measure a baby’s heart rate and breathing, so any irregularities or dips below a predetermined level will trigger an alarm, alerting the parents that something may be wrong. This is part of the support a family receives for their next baby after suffering a sudden infant death.
After receiving her award, Tina said:
“I’m glad I’ve managed to provide the funds to support these families with equipment when it is needed as some of the older sleep monitors are getting old with some being condemned once calibrated.”
Tina’s fundraising efforts over the past year included a bingo night, raffle and a jam jar tombola. She also took part in a tandem skydive and organised a quiz night with raffle, along with holding cake sales, and lucky dips at Christmas and Easter, all of which may have been promoted using flyer printing.
