The well-known American songwriter Jimmy Webb is set to present “An Evening with Jimmy Webb” in Milton Keynes at the end of May.
A Grammy and Novella Award winner, Webb is a Motown-trained lyricist and composer. Webb has written a collection of classic hit songs that are readily identifiable and encompass all ages and musical Forms. These include “Wichita Lineman”, “Galveston”, “Up, Up and Away” and “MacArthur Park”. Rolling Stone Magazine named him in its top 50 best songwriters, and he is a member of the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Webb has also published a memoir, “The Cake and the Rain” and the songwriters’ guide “Tunesmith: Inside the Art of Songwriting”. With 10 solo albums, in 2019, Webb completed “SlipCover”, a piano instrumental CD, which features a selection of his favourite tracks by Paul Simon, Billy Joel and Randy Newman, amongst others.
Those attending the upcoming show will not only get to enjoy his songs, but also listen to his engaging and funny tales. These focus on a host of working relationships with artists as diverse as Glen Campbell, Barbara Streisand and Kanye West.
