The changes to the study programme will take effect from September when students will be able to choose from a variety of alternative pathways, including Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, and Applied and Forensic Science. Interested parties should look out for Brochures outlining the changes.

Existing GCSEs will be replaced with two one-year courses, the BTEC First Diploma in Applied Science at Level 2. This is designed to be a practical course in preparation for further study or a career in science.
The BTEC Award in Enterprise at Level 2 will provide practical experience for a career as an entrepreneur. Level 3 students will be offered three choices, each course running for two years and equivalent to gaining three A-Levels. The BTEC National Extended Diploma in Enterprise and Entrepreneurship, the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Forensic and Criminal Investigation, and the broader based Academic Studies and Progression to Higher Education Pathway.
