Supper planned to honour Scottish poet
Burns Night celebrations will take place at a venue in Middleton, Greater Manchester.
In an evening dedicated to the acclaimed Scottish bard Robert Burns, Horton Lodge 8528 will present its annual Burns Night.
A special banquet filled with traditional highland fare has been prepared, featuring Scotch broth starters and the famous dish of haggis with “neeps and tatties”. Alternative dishes will be available on the night, including roast beef with Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. Dessert will be a raspberry pavlova and a selection of biscuits and cheese will also be offered. Dinner will conclude with coffee and mints.
The first Burns supper was held at the “Ploughman Poet’s” own cottage in 1801 when a group of his friends assembled.
Entertainment for the special Burns supper will feature traditional bagpipe music from the Scots Guard Pipe Band, and music will be played into the night to accompany a late bar at the venue.
Organisers of yearly events can sometimes advertise to the public using leaflets created by professional flyer printing services. The required dress code for the evening event is either traditional tartan or smart casual.
The Burns Night celebrations will be held at Middleton Masonic Club on Manchester Old Road on January 16, 2021. Festivities will begin at 6:00 pm and end at 11:30 pm, with tickets available for the event at £25 per person.
