Manchester Town Hall set to become games room
The town hall in Manchester will undergo a unique transformation later this month, as part of its role as the centre for a new convention dedicated to games.
This event is set to debut this summer, during the same weekend as the annual Manchester Day, helping to support the theme of this year’s day, which is ‘Game On’.
Running for two days, the convention is free to attend and will feature everything from the latest cutting-edge console and computer games to traditional board and table-top ones – with the main Games Room within the town hall being home to interactive games installations.
Manchester Day’s chair, Councillor Pat Karney, told the Manchester Evening News that:
He went on to add that the convention would let people test their games knowledge and skills against experts in the field.
The organisers of the convention can use full colour printing in Manchester if they want to create dynamic posters advertising the event to residents of the city.
The screen-free motion sensor multiplayer game Johann Sebastian Joust will be one of the main attractions at the event, taking place on 13th and 14th June.

“The town hall is nearly 150 years old and it really hasn’t seen anything like this before. During the weekend volunteers will be on hand to oversee some of the rarest and interesting board games, which most players won’t even have heard of.”
