Manchester to welcome folk festival

The annual Manchester Folk Festival is changing from its usual October date, and will now be held over three days towards the end of March.

This is an urban-based festival utilising numerous venues that present a wide selection of artists from across the folk spectrum. It is an opportunity to see traditional, modern and acoustic as well as roots music in a variety of intimate settings and festival spaces.

Band on the Wall will act as the event's hub, and its club will showcase the latest folk-orientated artists. There are also free sessions, including music available at The Smithfield Market Tavern and other venues.

The acts on the bill this year include Bernard Butler, Cara Dillon, The Deep Blue, Katherine Priddy, Nick Cope, Caoilfhionn, Robbie Cavanagh and 3 Daft Monkeys, to name but a few. According to event organisers, the festival will cater to a wide range of tastes.

The venues are located relatively close to one another, so those in attendance can move easily between gigs, meet up with friends or simply explore.

Tickets cost £121.000. Banner printing can be an effective form of publicity when it comes to the promotion of a concert or musical event like this one.

Manchester Folk Festival will take place between Thursday, 20 March and Saturday, 22 March in the city's Northern Quarter.
