What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Manchester business organisation appoints new honcho

Alison Loveday, who is a chief executive at a law firm, has been given the post of chair for the business development group pro-manchester.

Loveday has plenty of experience, some of which has been acquired at law firm Berg, and business card printing in Manchester may now be set for a boost as a result of her efforts. She has big aspirations for pro-manchester and told the Manchester Evening News:

“It’s the collective ambition to grow which positions pro-manchester as much more than just a business development network. Together we have an opportunity to shape a region on the verge of entering a new phase in terms of governance and become a true voice of business across not only the region but nationally and internationally.”

Loveday has made it clear that she supports the agenda of devolution. Further, she has high hopes for an elected mayor. As an enthusiast for the city-region, she believes that it has an entrepreneurial character.

The new chair will be in post for a year, having replaced Tim Grogan. Her role will involve paying attention to the various sectors, but it will also include focusing on making connections with specific companies. Her background may help her to achieve results because she has been working with pro-manchester for about two decades. Her various responsibilities have seen her operate as the chair on a committee for skills.
