Manchester-based Co-op plans expansion
The retailer Co-op aspires to open dozens of stores outside Manchester during 2017.
The Co-op headquarters may be situated within Manchester but the organisation hopes to establish 100 stores on a national scale. This ambitious vision should lead to the creation of 1,500 jobs. One result of the scheme could be a boost in the need for business forms from Manchester.
A director associated with property at the Co-op, Stuart Hookins, stated:
Hookins contrasted the perspective of the Co-op with that of its rivals. He asserted that the retail giant is opening convenience stores while some of its competitors are retreating from their growth strategies. He pointed out that his firm is securing lots of visitors in comparison with enterprises outside the discount sector.
The idea is that several fresh stores will soon meet some of the demand in the capital. Other areas to gain retail outlets from the expansion should include East Lothian, East Yorkshire, Staffordshire, and Swansea.
Greg Clark MP expressed his pleasure at the move by the Co-op. He said that the decision was positive news for the economy of the UK.
