What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Listed Manchester building to be turned into luxury hotel

Work has begun on an ambitious project to convert a Grade Two listed Manchester building into luxury hotel accommodation.

The building is located at Booth Street in the city centre, where it has been a fixture since 1872, and was formerly the Manchester and Salford Trustees Savings Bank. Once completed, the hotel – which will be called the King Street Townhouse – is expected to create in the region of 70 jobs.

It will feature 40 suites and bedrooms, as well as a bar, restaurant, gymnasium and spa pool – amenities that can be showcased by the full colour printing of Manchester brochure printers. The hotel will form part of the Eclectic Hotels chain, run by Sally and Eamonn O’Loughlin, who already own four successful hotels in the Manchester area and have developed a reputation for the conversion of historic buildings.

Eamonn O’Loughlin told the press:

“We have worked closely with Manchester City Council and our design team to create a luxury townhouse hotel within the King Street conservation area. We are very grateful to the city’s planning department for their support and guidance.”

As with all the other properties owned by Eclectic Hotels, the King Street Townhouse interiors will be designs created by Sally O’Loughlin. The work of fitting out and renovating the building is expected to last around a year, with the opening date set for the late spring of 2015.
