Kosheen celebrates 25 years at Manchesters Academy
Club Academy in Manchester will host drum and bass live act Kosheen as they celebrate 25 years on stage.
The Bristol electronic masters, who are fronted by Welsh singer Sian Evans, will stop in the North West as part of a European tour which marks a quarter of a century as some of ‘d’n’b’s’ premier performers.
Kosheen is a Bristol-based collective that was started by producers Decoder and Substance. They broke through with the track ‘Hide U’ in 2001 - this smash hit got regularly played by some of the genre’s top DJs, before entering the top ten of the UK singles chart.
The group has always diversified away from the standard ‘bass and beats’ formula of drum and bass, experimenting with elements of rock. Their second album reached 7 in the charts, and continued to incorporate outside influences in their music,
Kosheen is not the only drum and bass live act from Bristol to make a big impression. The city also spawned Roni Size & Reprazent, a group of Bristol DJs and musicians fronted by MC Dynamite, which won the Mercury Music Prize in 1997.
The concert takes place on Friday, 12th April. Doors open at 7.30pm. Flyer printing has long been a promotional technique used to advertise drum and bass parties and concerts.
Tickets are priced at £26 for the gig at Club Academy, in the Manchester University Union on Oxford Road.
