What's Happening in Manchester, England…

Frame could open Manchester gym

A female-friendly chain of gyms called Frame may have a location in Manchester soon.

Joan Murphy and Pip Black are behind the venture. The entrepreneurs have a

background within advertising. If a launch in Manchester is to be held, promotional items like promotional drinkware could be useful, and many fitness chains make use of such items. Frame already makes use of cafes to add value to its existing gyms. Paul Davis, who is employed as a market research analyst by Mintel, has explained the progress achieved by the organisation to BBC News:

“By focusing on areas outside of traditional gym activities such as dance classes and post-natal Pilates the studio appeals to a predominantly female demographic, who may not otherwise show an interest in joining a typical fitness club.”

Frame may be focused on the wants of women, but men are not excluded. It has been reported that around a fifth of the customers of the chain are male at the moment. Consumers may be able to get fit in Bristol, Manchester or Brighton before too long.

Mr Davis has highlighted another way in which Frame is different from some of its rivals. Lots of the competition has apparently focused on the maintenance of low costs, while the business has kept aiming at an elite target audience. The emphasis on the quality of the overall experience has seemingly been matched by willingness to network. One outcome of the strategy has been a deal with a fashion business.
