Beats-driven networking at Afrobeat Social in Manchester
Is afrobeat the perfect music to network to? Find out at the next Young Professionals get-together organised by Social Manchester this February.
Taking place at On The Hush on Church Street, Young Professionals Afrobeat Social will be a networking event with a musical backdrop of afrobeat, amapiano and other African genres.
With cocktails two-for-the-price-of-one until 9pm, you may have the perfect blend of vibrant atmosphere and relaxation for young professionals in the city to meet and develop connections. The organisers introduce Social Manchester as follows:
The afrobeats style of music is credited to legendary band leader and instrumentalist Fela Kuti, who was one of the artists behind the surge in popularity of the genre in the 1960s.
Amapiano is a much newer creation, having developed from afro house music in the late 2010s. Featuring tribal drums, electronic beeps and hypnotic loops, it is currently one of the fastest-growing styles of underground electronic music.
Attendees are advised to have their business card printing done in time for Young Professionals Afrobeat Social, which takes place on Friday, 23rd February, from 7.00pm to 11.30pm. Tickets, for adults only, are priced at £5 and are available online.
Situated in the super-trendy Northern Quarter district just north of Manchester’s city centre, On the Hush is a cafe and bar that is renowned for its bottomless brunch.
