City of London skyscraper plans win approval

Plans for the construction of another skyscraper in the City of London are set to move forward, with the news that the company has been given the necessary approval.

This latest skyscraper is set to feature walls made of glass, which will give it a glittering jewel-like appearance from the outside. The architects responsible for the design of it are WilkinsonEyre and it is set to be located in Fenchurch Street, not far from Aldgate. The chosen site is currently occupied by the Fountain House office block, but that will be knocked down to make way for these twin towers.

The completed structure will be a mixed use one, with much of it taken up by offices. There will also be an outdoor garden terrace area and a space for cultural projects that will be open to the public.

When companies first move into office spaces in the area, they find that there are useful services based nearby. Among them are City of London Print shops that can create Business Cards.

This planned development will be made up of two towers that are connected to each other. One will be 34 storeys high, and the other will be 31 storeys. Speaking to BBC News, Ben Littman from Aviva Investors said:
“It reflects the best of what the city can offer; ambition, culture, sustainability and inclusivity.”

No start date has been announced yet.
