A church based in an East London town has been turned into a temporary clinic.
The Ilford, Redbridge church has become the latest in a long list of civic buildings serving as pop-up clinics across the city to deliver the initial dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to members of the public. A number of other places around the capital came forward to offer their services following the announcement of the vaccine programme, but due to the high volume of people required to be vaccinated in a single day, not all churches were suited to the task.
Now, the City Gates Church on Clements Road in Ilford has started acting as a pop-up clinic offering the new jab to those in the local area. A recent event hosted by the church’s local pastor was organised by Loxford PCN and Healthbridge Direct, a GP-led patient care service with a Logo Design featuring an arched bridge. The occasion saw the new vaccine developed at AstraZeneca administered to multiple members of the community.
The church and its pastor were thanked for their support and hospitality by Sonia Nosheen, manager at Loxford PCN, a clinic based on Ilford Lane.
As well as various temporary vaccination hubs, East London also has two major vaccination sites now at Ilford’s King George Hospital and Romford’s Queen’s Hospital.
