What's Happening in Ilford, England…

Art experience comes to Ilford

An Ilford art centre is holding an experimental workshop where attendees can draw sounds.

Artistic residents of Ilford can soon participate in a special session that requires no prior skills. Local arts hub SPACE Ilford will present the event called the “Experimental Sound and Drawing Workshop” in October. Part of Space Studio’s family activities collection, the experience is led by artist Sophie Seita and lets artists develop a graphic score by drawing sounds that they feel, hear and imagine.

Art centres in the UK sometimes order informative branded booklets from brochure printing services that explain what’s involved in the courses, classes and workshops they hold to interested members of the community.

Graphic scores are defined as alternative notations for movement and sound. The afternoon event will include attendees participating in listening meditations, making sounds using everyday objects, writing and drawing to recorded music, and trying to capture the sounds they hear in words and pictures. The experimental session also lets participants invent scores for imagined or real voices.

The Experimental Sound and Drawing Workshop will now be held at SPACE Ilford on Saturday, October 11. The workshop begins at 11 am and ends at 3 pm and the art hub is based at 10 Oakfield Road in Ilford.

All languages and ages are welcome to take part in the inclusive event.
