Art workshop to arrive in Ilford

A celebrated arts hub in Ilford is presenting a winter workshop that will explore how beauty is represented today.

Art enthusiasts in Ilford can participate in this family-friendly event in November. A local venue will host a creative workshop called “Beauty Fall” in conjunction with its “Family Activities” events collection, and is encouraging members of the community of aged three and upwards to get involved.

The free event investigates the way modern beauty standards impact identity and connect to heritage. It looks at how beauty is measured, considers idealised standards impacting feelings of self-worth and self-esteem, and asks if the concept of beauty can be reshaped in the digital age.

Led by visual artist Sabrina Tirvengadum, the workshop will guide participants to examine modern beauty standards formed by social media, the beauty industry and Western ideals. Artists often trust professional print shops to produce copies of their work for personal portfolios and to sell online via ecommerce platforms.

Workshop attendees will use writing, collages, AI (artificial intelligence) imagery and drawings to discover unique experiences of beauty, and can bring along prints and digital copies of photographs to use in their projects.

The Beauty Fall creative workshop will be at SPACE Ilford on Saturday, November 8. The event has a start time of 11 am and finishes at 3 pm. The local arts hub is based at 10 Oakfield Road in Ilford.
