Hundreds of sports fans from around Ilford recently turned up at the launch of a takeaway shop in the area specialising in the meaty favourite. The reason for the attendance was the presence of Manchester-born boxer and star of “I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of here!”, Amir Khan.
The boxer arrived at the new shop on Ilford Lane called “Ottoman Doner” with Faryal Makdoom, his wife, to cheers from the crowd gathered outside. Khan had earlier left a social media post on the shop’s dedicated Instagram, commenting:
"Come and check us out in Ilford. See you there."
To celebrate the launch, the first 200 kebabs served were given to diners entirely for free. Restaurants, takeaways and other commercial enterprises selling food sometimes hire professional Graphic Design Services to produce eye-catching signage and Menus displaying dishes on offer to customers.
In his amateur career, Khan became the UK’s youngest boxer with an Olympic medal back in 2004, aged just 17 at the time. He went on to become the unified light-welterweight class world champion, as well as a philanthropist and promoter, appearing on numerous television shows.
The new kebab shop based on Ilford Lane will join a list of other branches Ottoman Doner operates around London in areas including Docklands and Whitechapel.
