A green scheme in Essex has pushed ahead after receiving government support.
A project called Transition Town Ilford has received funding to help it develop a forest garden in Ilford’s Valentine Park. The £5,132 awarded has come from the London Mayor’s “Grow Back Greener Grant”, and project leaders will work alongside local groups in the community to design and plan the forest garden before planting it.
Transition Town Ilford is working on the green development in close partnership with the Redbridge Green Fair Association, Roots N Permaculture, Vision Redbridge Culture and Leisure, ASNET and the Commonwealth Gardeners. Project developers can sometimes use brochure printing services to outline their Plans in pamphlets to gain the attention of investors and other interested organisations.
The green-thumbed scheme has already attracted many volunteers wishing to take part from around the local community.
The new endeavour will involve eight different planting layers and the creation of a learning space onsite, that will run dedicated online study courses. The project team has been mentored by a professional forest garden trainer and has already started the initial stages of preparing the soil at Valentines Park to receive the first saplings.
While Tier 4 restrictions over December have slowed the project and this month’s national lockdown will impede it further, it hopes to be back on track and planting as soon as safety measures are lifted.
