Plans developed by Redbridge Council to build a “Cultural Quarter” as part of its scheme entitled “Ilford for All” received the £500,000 from the Greater London Authority (GLA).
Town councillors now hope to rejuvenate Ilford by uniting industry and art, generating economic activity that produces work opportunities for those in the local community. Local councils seeking support for projects sometimes enlist professional Graphic Design Services to create branded portfolios displaying their Plans.
In a statement, Redbridge Council Leader Jas Athwal commented that the extra aid would support transformation Plans for Redford to turn it into a centre for socialising and shopping, adding:
“We want to work with local communities, residents and businesses to revitalise the area, making it greener, cleaner and more sustainable, with beautiful town squares, public art and exciting local shops.”
An earlier grant the project received from the GLA was worth £1.8 million. Now, the additional funds will assist with enhancing public areas, improving accessibility and making the most of currently vacant spaces around the Ilford centre, using art and new lighting.
Due to the restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19, many works have been temporarily postponed. However, some are already in place, such as a new entrance for Ilford Station and the opening of new art hub.
