The long-anticipated new entrance at the Crossrail Station in Ilford is set to be completed and open for use by the summer, according to project coordinators. Local officials and council members seeking to inform members of the public of important opening and closure dates often seek out professional printing services to produce branded signage.
Recently, the opening was delayed when a structural survey uncovered that the bridge located beneath the new station entrance was in poor condition. The bridge is currently handling traffic on Cranbrook Road, allowing it to cross the railway line located beneath.
Repairs to the bridge’s concrete elements are now progressing alongside work on the station entrance’s internal fitting. According to This is Local London, a spokesperson for the Network Rail project commented:
“These repairs will be carried out between now and the end of May which will allow us to finish the new entrance and open it to passengers this summer.”
Upon completion, the station will have three functioning entrances. Two access points have already successfully opened that lead to York Road and Prior Road, respectively. The new entrances are part of a regeneration scheme for the station that is aligned with the Ilford Western Gateway project.
The entrance is expected to be completed when the Central London section of Cross Rail launches this summer.
