London’s first fully sustainable community market, Mercato Metropolitano, has now opened a taster version in Ilford for the festive season. The market had originally planned to open for business at the car park of the former Town Hall in Ilford, but delays pushed the launch back to next year.
To give shoppers a sample of what the market will offer in the new year, its operators have decided to host a smaller version of the new retail hub. With the season in mind, the taster market will also be selling Christmas trees and knitwear, along with festive food and drinks. Organisers and promoters of seasonal markets can sometimes use banner printing services to create largescale branded signage to attract attendance.
According to the Ilford Recorder, Kam Rai, Deputy Leader for the local council, commented on the taster market:
“When fully opened, Mercato Metropolitano will play a key role in Ilford town centre’s transformation, offering a brand-new eating experience at the heart of our emerging cultural quarter.”
Mercato Metropolitano’s festive taster market will run throughout December, with traders present on Thursdays and Fridays, along with Saturdays. The market is located Oakfield Road, just outside the Kenneth More Theatre, and it will be open from midday until 9 pm.
