What's Happening in Ilford, England…

Club night to come to Ilford

A night club based in an area of Ilford is hosting a spring event dedicated to “rare groove” music.

Clubbers in Ilford won’t want to miss a springtime session taking place in Gants Hill this year. Early April will find local venue Faces Nightclub holding a seven-hour spectacular called the “Rare Grooves Special”.

Local nightspots like clubs in Essex holding music events often lean on expert flyer printing services to create colourful hand-held adverts that get the word out to the community.

A much-loved music genre, rare groove mixes soul, funk, Latin and jazz. It's defined by its use of improvisation, syncopated rhythms and longer instrumental solos. Selector Norman Jay coined the term rare groove on Kiss FM, but the music style dates to the ‘60s and ‘70s.

Those attending the club night can expect to enjoy hit DJs spinning rare groove songs into the small hours of the morning. DJs confirmed include Company Soul Sound, Geoff American Express, DJ Ratty, Mr Eastender and Cass Manhattan.

The Rare Grooves Special will now be at Faces Nightclub on Saturday, April 5, running into Sunday morning. The venue is based at 458-462 Cranbrook Road in Gants Hill, Ilford, and the event runs from 9 pm to 4 am.

Admission is charged at £20 per person - however, those celebrating their birthday will find they can enjoy free entry before midnight.
