Volunteers sought for Huddersfield Carnival

The organisers of one of the more exciting and colourful annual events in Huddersfield are putting out an urgent call for volunteers to help out and ensure it goes ahead this year.

Huddersfield Carnival is a highlight of the year in the town and usually takes place in early summer. It has had to be cancelled for the past three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but there are Plans for its return in 2023. The organisers Huddersfield African Caribbean Trust promised the best one yet, but they have told Examiner Live that they need local people to get on board to help in putting it together.

Their statement goes on to say that:

“HACCT has trustee vacancies. Board members are needed including a chairman, which is imperative to keep the charity running, without HACCT there is no carnival.”

A location for this year’s event is in place, with Greenhead Park set to serve as the venue for it as it has in many previous years. Poster printing from Huddersfield shops is one way that organisations like HACCT can drum up interest among people in the town to get them involved.

In addition to asking residents to come forward and contribute to the carnival, the trust is also looking for businesses based there to do the same.

Huddersfield Carnival typically takes place on a date in June.
