This event has been given the name ‘The Merry and Bright Winter Celebration’. It is the brainchild of Kirklees Council in collaboration with Huddersfield BID and has been designed to appeal to all ages. Among the delights on offer will be live entertainment, a Christmas market and a variety of games and craft workshops. The latter will be taking place within a Creative Piazza that is being set up.
When the sun goes down, it will be time for the ‘Merry and Bright Moment’. This is an activity where local people will assemble into groups and put up light chains throughout the town centre.
Other highlights of the event are set to include the various Creative Piazza activities during the morning and afternoon. There will be puppetry, samba dance classes, ice skating, lantern displays and workshops.
Flyer printing by shops in Huddersfield is one way for the local council to spread the word about one-off local events.
Carole Pattison from Kirklees Council told Huddersfield Hub:
“This year’s celebrations are set to be really unique and imaginative and our festive fire garden in Huddersfield will be very special.”
This event is scheduled to be held throughout the day on Saturday 29th November.
