Huddersfield Town keen to launch business centre

The new owner of Huddersfield Town has said that he wants the club to be central to regenerating the town, and has indicated that a centre for businesses could be part of that.

Kevin Nagle bought the club recently and he stated that he is keen for it to collaborate with the University of Huddersfield, Kirklees Council and businesses in the area on ways of boosting the economy. Nagle has already suggested that the club could get involved in the two-decade Station to Stadium Enterprise Corridor planned by the council, but has also raised the possibility of a hub for small firms.

Speaking to Huddersfield Hub, he stated:

“I like the sound of a business hub, an incubator for small businesses. Retail space, food and beverage, an entrepreneurial think-tank, a business hub with established companies, start-ups, a place to meet and work.”

Companies based in the city would undoubtedly welcome the creation of such a space. They already have some useful outlets within Huddersfield, such as shops that supply Corporate Gifts for wooing clients.

Nagle concluded by saying that one of the historic buildings in the town could potentially be restored to serve as the home for the centre.

The 69-year-old investor from the US owns several major firms, including The Nagle Company. He took over Huddersfield Town at the start of the summer.
