Huddersfield to welcome talented musician

Douglas Dare, the now London located singer/songwriter, will be making an appearance in Huddersfield in mid-April.

Originally hailing from Bridport in Dorset, Dare is a teacher's son who had a keen interest in music from an early age, composing instrumentals. It was only while attending the University of Liverpool in 2008, however, that he began to write songs.

Douglas's debut release, in September 2013, was an EP entitled "Seven Hours" coming out on the label Erased Tapes. It received positive reviews, with Mary Anne Hobbs declaring the record "very strange and wonderful". A European tour quickly followed.

He then started work on a first album "Whelm" with Fabian Prynn, his producer/drummer, which The Guardian described as "distinctive and strikingly new". Early in 2014, he embarked on an American tour with Nils Frahm.

Dare's live sound is a combination of acoustic instruments, incorporating piano, glitchy electronics and percussion, inspired and influenced by names like James Blake, Elliot Smith and Portishead. The haunting and rich vocals blend with lyrics taken from his poems and short prose.

This show has been rescheduled from June 2020, and tickets cost £9.90 inclusive of booking fee. Flyer printing can be an effective way of promoting a forthcoming musical event like this.

Douglas Dare is due to appear at 2:30 pm on Sunday, April 11 at Huddersfield Library.
