A Youth Engagement Day is due to take place in Huddersfield in January.
The event seeks to showcase youth activities in the Kirklees and Huddersfield area. It is a chance for young people to discover the variety of practical help and resources available in the local community. This will help to open the door to new opportunities, clearly demonstrating that support exists and can be easily accessed.
There will be plenty of local youth groups taking part, all eager to publicise what they do and what they have to offer. Furthermore, the event will help organisations taking part to raise their profile within the community and enable them to attract more interest to help them to grow.
The main aim of the Youth Engagement Day is to link up these various organisations and groups with schools, parents and young people. This is important in fostering a sense of co-operation and in building useful support networks. These, in turn, will then enable individuals to have more choices and thereby influence more directly what happens in their daily lives.
There is no charge for attendance and flyer printing can be a useful way of drawing attention to such events to the local community.
The Youth Engagement Day will be held between 11am and 5pm on Saturday 18th January at GDPA, Global Diversity Positive Action in Huddersfield.
