Huddersfield to plan a swinging Christmas this year

The festive season in Huddersfield is set to go with a real swing this year, as an orchestra dedicated to playing swinging tunes comes to town.

Huddersfield will be hosting The Down for the Count Swing Orchestra, which is bringing its festive show to town. This is called ‘Swing into Christmas!’ and it has proven to be a smash hit all over the country. The show features a mix of Christmas and non-Christmas songs, all of which are played with authentic big band flair. The orchestra also throws a fair amount of humour into the blend.

It was first brought together 20 years ago, and its conductor is Mike Paul-Smith. The band is made up of 30 musicians, including many of the finest instrumentalists and singers in Britain. This has helped its Christmas show to become a popular festive fixture.

Tickets for live Christmas events in Huddersfield are generally hot sellers, but local venues still sometimes look to stimulate interest. Graphic Design Services can help with the creation of attractive promotional Posters.

Speaking to Huddersfield Hub, Mike Paul-Smith said:
“There is so much beautiful music out there and we love bringing it back to life – whether it’s the comparatively unknown Louis Armstrong version of White Christmas, or a classic tune everyone knows like New York, New York.”

The orchestra will play the Lawrence Batley Theatre on 12 December.
