Huddersfield Library set for new location

The iconic Huddersfield Library building will be closing for the last time at the end of this year, with the library set to be temporarily relocated until its new permanent home is ready.

It is currently housed within the Huddersfield Library and Art Gallery space, which is situated in Princess Alexandra Walk. This has been the setting for the library since World War Two, but a new home will be created for it as part of the ambitious Cultural Heart programme being pursued by Kirklees Council. That project is a regeneration of Huddersfield town centre that will include a more modern library building.

Local people will have the opportunity to pay a visit to the current building before it is officially closed down. Events are being held there throughout the month of December, organised by the council and designed to celebrate the library.

Huddersfield shops that supply banner printing can be useful to the council when it wants to promote upcoming events like these ones through the use of sizeable advertising Banners.

Speaking to Kirklees Together, Paul Davies from the council said:

ā€œI’m excited about the move into a brand new state-of-the-art library in spring 2026, and hope that people will visit Kirklees Library in its temporary location whilst the work takes place.ā€

The library will close on 31st December and make the move to Market Street.
