Huddersfield in full bloom this May

Golcar Lily Day, postponed from last year, is now due to be held on the outskirts of Huddersfield at the beginning of May.

This is an important annual event for the village, so much so that the locals are affectionately nicknamed Golcar Lilies. There will be host of activities on offer that should appeal to visitors of all ages.

The centrepiece remains the traditional fete and popular parade with its array of food and refreshments, a beer tent and various other stalls. It also boasts competitions, children's face painting, Morris dancers, an art display and even a tractor pull.

Colne Valley Museum is opening up all day long to offer children's activities to make and take home, as well as continuous craft displays and demonstrations. There will be a one-off opportunity to bake the well-known Golcar Lily Loaf in the Victorian kitchen, with homemade cakes on sale in the restaurant.

Each year Lily Day involves the entire village, with live music adding to the general party atmosphere and is eagerly anticipated and prepared for well in advance by the residents.

There is no entry charge and the event should offer a fun day out for all the family. Flyer printing can be most useful when it comes to publicising forthcoming local community activities like this.

Golcar Lily Day will take place between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on Saturday, May 8 at Golcar Village, near Huddersfield.
