A pub in Huddersfield that was built all the way back at the end of the 19th century is undergoing extensive renovation work and will be reopening its doors later in the year.
The Farmer’s Boy pub is situated in Marsh Lane and was first opened to the public in 1897. Over the years, it has developed a reputation both for the quality of its meals and for its traditional stone architecture. However, it was forced to shut down four years ago. Now the venue has been taken over by Star Pubs & Bars and the company is renovating it at a cost of £435,000.
Development work will begin this month and will see the stone exterior restored to its former glory. The firm is stating that work on the interiors will improve them without sacrificing their distinctive feel and look. The former barn building will be converted into a sizeable space for dining, while a log burner and wood beams will be added to the bar.
Features such as the arched window will be retained, but lighting and a new sign will be added outside. Promotional Products from Huddersfield shops can help venues like this when they are looking to re-launch.
Huddersfield-born Dan Ayscough-MacGowan will be taking over as the landlord and the menu will be based around traditional British food.
The Farmer’s Boy is scheduled to reopen during June.Get a Free Quote for Promotional Products
