The manager of Edgware Town, Michael Roche, has moved to strengthen his team at the midway point of the season by adding two fresh faces to his squad.
Roche has brought Hendon’s Sam Flegg and Wembley player Michael Green to the club, as he seeks to improve Edgware’s position in the Spartan South Midlands Football League Division One.
Edgware Town have struggled during the first half of the season, but Roche and the club’s supporters will be hoping the capture of Flegg and Green helps to turn things around.
Green certainly represents an encouraging signing for Edgware Town, having chosen to leave Wembley FC, who compete a division above Edgware, while versatile 26-year-old defender Flegg will add to the options the Wares have at the back.
Clubs playing at non-league level, like Edgware Town, often rely on services provided by local businesses – such as those that can supply full colour printing in Edgware for match day programmes.
The club joined Division One of the Spartan South Midlands League for the start of this season, having endured some turbulent times off the pitch in recent years.
Edgware Town was dissolved in 2008, having been unable to raise the funding needed for a new stadium to replace the White Lion Ground.
However the club re-emerged in 2014, playing home games from Silver Jubilee Stadium, and loyal fans will be hoping the future is now brighter.
