Tower block set to be built near Edgware

A tower block that will consist of 28 storeys looks set to be built near Edgware, after the local council decided in favour of the Plans at a recent meeting.

This block would be constructed at a site that is currently occupied by a branch of Sainsbury’s. It is on Hyde Estate Road, which is in Colindale, not far from Edgware and if it goes ahead, it would provide housing for over 1,000 people in the area. The planning committee for Barnet Council has given its approval, but the final decision will be down to Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London.

Should he agree to the project moving forward, it would see another 10 housing blocks built, each of which would be over 10 storeys high. There would also be a smaller one with four storeys and a new Sainsbury’s supermarket to replace the existing one.

Local Graphic Design Services are sometimes used to help show off what finished housing projects will look like. This particular project has been designed by St George, a housing development firm, and one third of the 1,309 homes that it would provide are set to be affordable housing.

The project is classed as being strategically important and will be forwarded to the Mayor, but no date has been set for a final decision.
