Regeneration project planned near Edgware

Plans have been announced for a major project that will regenerate a spot in Barnet located not far from Edgware, with the developer set to collaborate with the council on its completion.

The developer is Argent Related and the project itself is being called Brent Cross Town. It will involve the building of an entirely new town centre right in the middle of the wider regeneration project named Brent Cross Cricklewood. This newly created town centre is set to contain 6,700 houses and flats, alongside office space totalling three million square feet, with the hope being that the latter will lead to the creation of 25,000 more jobs.

Among the other amenities that will be provided as part of the project is a main street that will house facilities for cultural and leisure use, shops, restaurants and cafes. Outlets of this kind are often advertised locally using flyer printing once they open.

There will also be considerable improvement to the existing transport infrastructure, with enhanced bicycle and pedestrian routes and a new station called Brent Cross West Thameslink. Daniel Thomas from Barnet Council told Times Series:

“The protection and enhancement of acres of existing green space provides the unique opportunity to create an area that has health, wellbeing and sustainability at the heart of its design.”

The first homes are scheduled to be ready for use by 2024.
