Ambitious Plans to build a scheme at a location not far from Edgware that would combine shopping and residential facilities have been revised and submitted to the local council a second time.
These plans would see the scheme constructed on a site in Hendon, just outside Edgware. The proposed development has been given the name Hendon Hub and a consultation with people living in the area on the revamped plans has now started.

Among other things, the scheme would see two blocks of seven storeys in height constructed at Church End and The Burroughs. This part of the project has already been given the nod by Barnet Council, but other aspects remain up for debate.
One change that has been made following objections is to keep the public library in its existing building, which holds Grade II listed status. The original plans had proposed converting it into a teaching facility for the university.
That has been abandoned, but other significant parts of the first application are still the same. Fenella Building and Ravensfield House would still be knocked down for two new buildings that would provide housing, as well as shopping and community spaces.
