Plans are being put in place for the launch of a brand-new exhibition at a site not far from Edgware that will honour the wartime contributions of Jewish people to the RAF.
This project is the brainchild of the Chelsea Foundation and the Royal Air Force Museum, and it will be called Jewish Hidden Heroes. Roman Abramovich, the billionaire owner of Chelsea FC, is providing financial support for the project, and it will see two new exhibitions launched – with one of them being based at the Hendon Bomber Command Museum, near Edgware.
The idea behind it is to celebrate those Jewish men who joined the RAF to fight in World War Two, with many of their stories having remained obscure ever since. These men played a key role during the 1940 Battle of Britain, which stopped a Nazi invasion of the UK.
