Sheffield Hallam University has announced that it is planning to launch a satellite campus outside of that city, and the chosen location for it near the North London town of Edgware.
This campus will be constructed in Brent Cross at a site that measures 180 acres. The chosen site is to undergo a redevelopment that will cost £8 billion to deliver and the new satellite campus will be one part of that. It will cover an area of 110,000 sq ft and is set to be situated over the bottom six floors of a building that will be the first constructed for the project. The remaining floors will be for commercial use.
Once the university moves into the region, it will be able to take advantage of products and services offered by shops in the surrounding areas, like printers in Edgware that provide Letterheads. This would be helpful when it came to official university Forms and correspondence.
The completed campus building is set to have an entrance just for those studying and working at the university. It will also be equipped with shower and cycle facilities.
In addition to this main building, the satellite campus will also feature rooms for 662 students. The plan is for the new campus building and accommodations rooms to be ready to open by the academic year 2025/26.
