The bus station in Edgware may be set to be moved to a brand new location within the area, as part of a much bigger redevelopment project that is planned for the centre of town.
This project is being driven by Ballymore, a property developer that purchased the Broadwalk retail centre in the heart of Edgware three years ago. It hopes to redevelop this centre and create housing above it, but the current bus station sits right alongside it. That makes it inconvenient for the company’s Plans, but the facility is also largely obscured by the tube station at the moment.
Situated in a small side road and blocked from view by the tube station, there has long been a desire to relocate the bus station to a more prominent spot, given its importance. Under the plans proposed by Ballymore and Transport for London it would be moved so that it is ahead of the underground station rather than behind it.
Stationery printers in Edgware can be useful in providing both bus and tube stations with important printed materials like travel Brochures and up to date timetables.
The garage for buses that is currently found towards the rear of the station would be knocked down if the scheme is approved. A new garage area would then be built below the housing that is planned.
