New grant funding announced for businesses in Edgware

Barnet Council has announced that it will be providing funding for both existing businesses and start-ups based within Edgware, and other parts of the borough, through a new grant scheme.

The money for this scheme will come through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. Organisations that are located within Burnt Oak and Edgware are set to be among the initial recipients of cash from it, and there is a total of £50,000 available that will be divided into grants of £10,000 each. Among those entitled to apply are resident and business associations, as well as teams in the town run by volunteers.

To get one, organisations will have to show how they will use the money to support firms based within either Edgware or Burnt Oak. The funding can be put towards things like mentoring schemes, internships, staff training and networking events. In the case of the latter, there are existing services in Edgware, like Print shops, which are able to provide Business Cards that can help spread the word.

Talking to Harrow Online, Anne Clarke from Barnet Council said:
“Local businesses are at the heart of our thriving high streets and communities. We want to work with them to help them grow and create more jobs.”

She added that applicants who have shown a commitment to supporting diverse businesses will have a better chance.

The deadline for applications is 19th February, 2024.
