A teacher from near Edgware who became a star of the internet with his rapping skills has landed a brand new television series that uses raps to educate children.
Jacob Mitchell – alias MC Grammar – became a viral internet sensation two years ago with a video where he rapped the story of the Gruffalo to teach his daughter. Now Mitchell, 38, has secured a show of his own where he uses his rapping ability to teach children about a variety of subjects. MC Grammar’s Wonder Raps is being shown on the Sky Kids channel.
Prior to the video that changed his life, Mitchell worked as a teacher at both Livingstone Primary and Nursery School and Church Hill School in the Barnet area. Stationery printers in the same locale are often vital for local schools, to ensure they have the official Forms they need.
Since it hit the internet, he has appeared on radio and television shows and won a contract with a record company. His new show sees him rap about everything from environmentalism to dinosaurs during the five-minute running time.
The children tuning in will be able to see him put his magic glasses on, before being transported to different locations via a mix of animation and live action. The show has been designed for youngsters at the Key Stage 2 learning level.
