A housing estate located close to Edgware is set to undergo redevelopment and expansion, now that Plans have been given the support of the local council.
Fosters Estate is situated in Hendon, near Edgware, and was originally built back in the 1960s. Under the terms of the new proposals, six additional tower blocks will be added to it, which will be fitted in between those flats already there. These blocks will be around seven storeys tall. The plans were approved unanimously by the members of the council at a meeting to decide whether it should move forward.
The developer behind the scheme has made a commitment to ensuring that half of the 217 new homes provided will be affordable housing. Some of them are also to be ‘extra-care’ homes that enable the elderly to continue to live independent lives.
Once new housing projects of this kind have been completed, developers often use brochure printing services to allow them to be shown off to the local community.
A spokesperson representing the developer stated that the project would make the estate safer for residents, as it would mean cars being moved out, and also indicated that it would take a number of steps to improve the buildings that are already on the estate.
